Getting started Which Linux Distro?
This example uses Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, however any major distro should work.
[!Note] Newer versions of Linux, like Ubuntu 22.04 no longer ship with libcrypto.so.1.1. This is a requirement for MongoDB 4.4, the database used by the Deadline Repository. If you use a newer Linux you’ll need to install the old libcrypto libraries.
How much CPU & RAM?
For 20-30 render nodes the server needs about 2 CPU cores and 4GB of ram
Use Centos7 as the base AMI
Maya installation rpm -ivh .rpm
sudo yum install -y xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-100dpi xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-75dpi xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi xorg-x11-fonts-75dpi sudo yum install -y mesa-libGLw mesa-libGLU csh tcsh libXp libXpm libXp-devel gamin audiofile audiofile-devel e2fsprogs-libs sudo yum install -y compat-libtiff3.x86_64 sudo yum install -y libpng12.x86_64 this stuff would be here if there was a gui like gnome on the os
sudo yum install -y gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.36-10.el7.x86_64
extra stuff for 2017:
yum install libx* yum install libX** yum install libpng12.
Step 1: Use Linux Mint’s built in extraction tools to extract the contents of the .rpm file
Step 2: Copy the extracted folders to the following locations:
For Maya 2017:
sudo cp -rv opt/Autodesk /opt/ sudo cp -rv usr/autodesk /usr/ sudo cp -rv var/opt/Autodesk /var/opt/ For adlmapps:
sudo cp -rv opt/Autodesk/Adlm /opt/Autodesk/ sudo cp -rv var/opt/Autodesk/Adlm/* /var/opt/Autodesk/Adlm/ For adlmflexnetclient:
sudo cp -rv opt/Autodesk/Adlm/FLEXnet /opt/Autodesk/Adlm/ For adlmflexnetserver:
sudo cp -rv opt/flexnetserver /opt/ Step 3: sudo ln -s /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcrypto.
Installing Maya 2016 on Linux mint is a similar process to installing the 2015 version. However there are a few different steps to get it running.
Step 1: We need to install a whole bunch of programs first that Maya needs to be able to run.
sudo apt-get install -y alien sudo apt-get install -y csh tcsh libaudiofile-dev libglw1-mesa elfutils sudo apt-get install -y gamin libglw1-mesa-dev mesa-utils libcurl3 sudo apt-get install -y ttf-liberation xfonts-100dpi xfonts-75dpi sudo apt-get install -y ttf-mscorefonts-installer Install the following if you plan to run a flexlm licencing server on your computer:
